Growing up, I was surrounded by musicians and engineers who kindled my passion for music and technology. I spent most of my youth playing instruments, composing music, playing video games, creating illustrations, and building electronic sound devices. This period of my life stimulated my passion for storytelling and creativity, allowing for self expression and world building through a variety of technologies and mediums.
After obtaining my Computer Science degree from UC Irvine, I worked as an information security software engineer. I was fascinated by this industry because it applied real-world concerns to application development. This role taught me how to balance software functionality with potential risk and business threats. It also mirrored my artistic endeavors, since hacking requires a large amount of innovation and experimentation to be successful.
Eventually, I began searching for a career that would allow me to combine technical expertise with creative expression. One night, after playing a favorite game of mine, it dawned on me that video game development perfectly integrates my interests. I started to dive into the world of game engines, level design, audio middleware, and game programming patterns. It has been an amazing journey filled with self-discovery, challenging problems, and collaborative learning, culminating in my role as audio lead and software developer at SYGO Studios.
One of the things I love about working on games is the highly collaborative nature of game development. I have learned so much from my coworkers, and I thrive in an environment that challenges me to be a better person. Creating an inclusive space and advocating for diversity are very important to me. I strive to make all people feel respected, and I am constantly learning how to communicate more effectively in order to empower others. I am deeply excited to continue working alongside innovative professionals to create exciting interactive experiences.
